Cookies & What Your Browser Stores

Short version: we do not track you. There is no analytics on this website, no advertising pixel, no session recording, and no third-party script of any kind. Nothing you do here is reported to anyone else. When you first arrive, this site stores nothing at all in your browser.

What we do store, we store because the site would not work without it, or because it saves you real trouble.

What we store, and why

To keep you signed in to your own booking. If you sign in to view or change your reservation, we set a session cookie so the site knows it is you. It is readable only by the server, sent only over a secure connection, and it expires. Without it you would have to prove who you are on every page.

To remember light or dark. If you use the light/dark toggle, we remember your choice so the site does not switch back on you next time.

To hold a half-finished registration form. Our registration forms are long — a family booking asks about every person coming. If your browser reloads partway through, we do not want you to lose that work, so the form saves what you have typed in your own browser and offers it back if you return within a day.

That draft never leaves your computer. It is not sent to us or to anyone else. It is deleted as soon as you submit the form, and it expires by itself after 24 hours. Your agreement to the rules and the waiver, and your typed signature, are deliberately never saved — you re-affirm those every time, which is how it should be.

If you are on a shared or public computer, please submit the form or close the page before you walk away, so a half-filled registration is not left behind for the next person.

For Abbey staff. Members of the community who sign in to the admin area have a sign-in cookie and a setting that remembers their display preference. Those apply only to staff accounts.

Why there is no cookie banner

You may be used to clicking through a consent box on every website. There is nothing here to consent to. Those banners exist because of advertising, analytics and cross-site tracking cookies — the kinds that follow you between websites. This site sets none of them, and no outside company is contacted at all, so a banner would be asking your permission for something that is not happening.

We would rather tell you plainly what is stored than ask you to dismiss a box.

Your choices

You can clear or block cookies and site data in your browser settings at any time. If you block them, you can still read everything on this site and still register — you would only lose the convenience of staying signed in to a booking and of a saved draft.

If this ever changes

If we ever add analytics, an embedded video or map, a chat widget, or a way to give online without leaving this site, that would introduce storage this page does not describe. If that happens, this page will be updated before the change goes live, and we will ask for your consent where the law requires it.
