His Holiness Pope Tawadros II ordaining His Grace Bishop Peter

His Grace Bishop Peter

Born in 1974 and holding a bachelor's degree from New Jersey, His Grace Bishop Peter — in monasticism the monk Moussa Abba Moses — worked at several companies before answering the call to the monastic life. In 2005 he joined St. Mary & St. Moses Abbey under then-Bishop Youssef, the first monk to enter this Abbey, and was later ordained to the priesthood.

Awarded the rank of Hegumen in February 2016, he served the Abbey as its Administrative Director and then for seven years as Associate Director, with care of the Abbey's library. He was later chosen as the first bishop to be ordained from this Abbey — consecrated Bishop Peter by His Holiness Pope Tawadros II over the new Diocese of North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky and its surrounding areas. His spiritual father is Metropolitan Youssef. Axios, Axios, Axios Bishop Peter!
