The Rites of the Church:

+ The proper rite for reading the church lectionary* is for the deacon to read the Coptic text in tune while facing the east, because he reads it in a form of prayer to God. Only after offering it to God in prayer does the deacon then translate the lectionary to the congregation in the commonly spoken language (English or Arabic) while facing the west.

+ We should remember that all the prayers of the Church are derived directly or indirectly from the Holy Scriptures, and thus by example the Church teaches us to pray using the words of the Scriptures.

*The Lectionary are, collectively, the selected readings from the Pauline & Catholic Epistles, the Acts of the Apostles, the Psalms and the Gospels read each Divine Liturgy
